There is no route to West Boise; we are already here. The shop is on W Ashcreek St in the 83713, between Five Mile Rd and Cloverdale Rd just south of Ustick. From the driveway it is a couple of minutes to Fairview Ave, five to Boise Towne Square, and about the same to the Cole Rd and Franklin Rd corners. The streets in between are the ones we drive every day: Maple Grove, Milwaukee, McMillan, Emerald, the stretch of Ustick that runs past the schools and the canal. When a call comes in from the 83704 or the 83709 side near Overland Rd, the technician is often already within a mile of it, which is why West Boise gets the tightest arrival windows on our board.
Most of West Boise went up between the early 1970s and the late 1990s: single-story ranches, split-levels and the occasional tri-level, with laundry in the garage or a hallway closet and dryer vents that run twenty feet or more through the attic. Boise city water here is hard, and it shows. Dishwasher spray arms plug with scale, ice-maker fill valves narrow until the cubes come out hollow, and washer inlet screens turn white. Add high-desert dust that packs those long vent runs and coats refrigerator condenser coils, and you have the three calls we take most in this ZIP: a dryer that needs two cycles, a dishwasher leaving film on the glasses, and a garage freezer that quit during a January inversion.

A 1990s ranch just west of Five Mile, glasses coming out cloudy for a month. The homeowner had switched detergents twice. The technician pulled the lower spray arm, found every hole crusted, checked the softener in the garage and found the brine tank empty. Element tested fine. Descaled, arm replaced from the truck, salt refilled by the owner that night.
A side-by-side in a split-level kitchen, warm on top and frosted in the freezer. The condenser coils underneath wore a felt of dog hair and Owyhee dust. Coils cleaned, then the meter went on the evaporator fan, which was drawing high. New fan motor from truck stock, full cool-down test before leaving.
Electric dryer in a garage laundry, running forty minutes with lukewarm air. The vent climbed through the attic to a roof jack. The thermal fuse had opened, which is what a blocked vent does. Fuse replaced, vent cleared end to end, airflow measured at the roof cap. Written warranty on the part.
A top-loader filling so slowly the cycle timed out. Both inlet screens were plated with scale from the hard city water. Screens cleaned, hot valve replaced because the coil measured open, and fill time dropped from eleven minutes to under two. The owner asked about a softener; we told her what we see, not what to buy.
