Nampa is really two towns for a range technician. The older one sits between the Nampa Train Depot and Northwest Nazarene University: 1920s to 1960s houses on Lake Lowell Ave and Holly St whose kitchens were remodeled once in the 1990s and have not been touched since, with a freestanding gas range on the original line and a wall oven in a cabinet that was cut for a smaller model. An oven that bakes cold or hot by 25 degrees or more has a drifting temperature sensor or a control board that no longer calibrates. We put a thermometer in the center of the oven, compare it to the set point through two cycles, meter the sensor and tell you which part has moved.
A radiant element that does not glow has failed open, or the infinite switch behind the knob has burned. One stuck on full is almost always the switch. We meter both, replace the failed one and check the glass for cracks that a hard Nampa mineral scrub can leave behind.
The coil itself, the receptacle it plugs into, or the switch. Receptacles burn when the coil terminals corrode and arc, a common sight in older Nampa rentals. We test each piece and replace the coil and receptacle together when the terminals show heat damage.
A dark display can be a blown thermal fuse, a failed transformer on the board, or a wiring connector that has cooked behind the panel. Error codes point to a sensor, a door lock or a board fault. We read the code, meter the circuit it names and give you a plain answer.
On a gas range the technician lights every burner, watches the oven igniter through a full ignition, and measures the current it draws, because a weak igniter is the single most common oven failure in the Treasure Valley and it can only be found with a meter. On an electric range each element is metered for resistance, the switches are tested under load, and the oven sensor is compared to a thermometer through two cycles. Then you get the failed part named in plain English and one written price for the entire job. Igniters, bake and broil elements, radiant elements, infinite switches and temperature sensors for Whirlpool, GE, Frigidaire, Samsung and LG ride on the truck, so most Nampa oven repairs finish the same visit.
