Range and oven repair in Meridian, gas or glass-top

Meridian’s kitchens were built in the last twenty years and most got one of two ranges: a gas range on the streets with gas service, or a builder-grade glass-top everywhere else. Both are out of warranty now. A burner that clicks in Paramount or an oven baking cold in Ten Mile Crossing is ten minutes from the shop. The technician meters it and writes one price.

Ranges and ovens in Meridian’s newer kitchens

Stoves, ranges & ovens · Meridian

Turn off Ustick into any Meridian subdivision and the kitchens follow a pattern. In Paramount, Lochsa Falls and the newer streets around Ten Mile Rd with gas service, the builder installed a gas range, usually a freestanding Whirlpool, GE, Samsung or Frigidaire. In Tuscany, Bridgetower and much of the townhome stock near The Village at Meridian, it was an electric glass-top from the same brands. The houses are now five to twenty years old, and the igniters, spark modules, radiant elements and sensors that came with them are at the age where they fail. The truck from Five Mile Rd carries those parts and is in Meridian in ten minutes.

A call from a 2012 house in Lochsa Falls went like this. The gas oven had been slow to heat for a month, then stopped heating at all while the burners on top still lit fine. The technician read the igniter and found it glowing but drawing too little current to open the safety valve. That is the most common gas oven failure on the route and it is a truck-stock part. Igniter replaced, oven checked against a thermometer at 350°F, a quick leak test on the gas side, written warranty left on the island. Meanwhile the neighbor’s identical range, installed the same month, has maybe a year left on its own igniter.

Meridian range and oven symptoms

Gas oven slow to heat, or no heat

A weak igniter that glows but cannot pull enough current to open the safety valve. The technician clamps a meter on the igniter, reads the current, and swaps it from the truck. On the gas ranges Meridian’s builders installed between 2005 and 2018, this is the most frequent oven call.

Cooktop burner clicks and does not light

A fouled or wet igniter electrode after a boil-over, a spark module failing, or a burner cap off center. The technician cleans the electrode, meters it, checks the module output and replaces whichever failed. If all burners click at once, a spark switch has shorted.

Glass-top zone will not heat

An open radiant element, a failed limiter, or a control board relay. The technician lifts the glass, meters the element and limiter first and names the board only when the readings leave nothing else. Elements for the builder-grade brands ride on the truck.

Electric oven bakes cold or uneven

A temperature sensor reading high, a bake element with a burned spot, or a door gasket that shrank in a dry Idaho winter. The technician checks with a thermometer, meters the sensor and element, and looks at the gasket before quoting.

Display error code, oven locked

A door lock motor stuck after a self-clean, a sensor that failed from self-clean heat, or a control board. The technician reads the code, meters the lock and the sensor, and quotes the board only when the meter proves it. Self-clean is hard on builder-grade sensors.

Convection fan runs but no heat

A failed convection element or a relay on the board. The technician meters the convection element, the bake element and the relay output, and names the one that has failed. This shows up on the convection ranges in Meridian’s 2015-and-later houses, where the convection element is the usual answer.

The range visit in Meridian

  • Gas or electric, freestanding or wall oven, confirmed when you book
  • Igniter amps, element and sensor resistance metered before a diagnosis
  • Oven temperature checked with a thermometer, not the display
  • One written price with the $99 diagnostic already inside it
  • All burners and the oven tested, gas side leak-checked, written warranty left

Stove and oven repair in Meridian, diagnosed with a meter and a thermometer

The technician works the cooktop first, then the oven. On a gas range that means watching each burner light, then reading igniter current and the flame pattern through a full oven cycle. On a glass-top it means resistance on each radiant element and limiter, sensor resistance against the chart, and voltage at the terminal block, because a lost leg of 240V makes a Meridian oven look dead when it is not. A thermometer inside the oven settles any argument with the display. The door gasket gets checked. Then one part is named, one reason is given, and one price is written with the $99 diagnosis inside it.

The truck carries igniters, spark modules, radiant elements, bake and broil elements, sensors, limiters and infinite switches for Whirlpool, GE, Samsung, Frigidaire, LG, KitchenAid, Maytag and Bosch, which is nearly every range in Meridian. Rentals in Tuscany, near The Village and around Ten Mile Crossing run through the tenant with the owner approving by text and receiving the invoice and written warranty by email. Every range in 83642 and 83646 gets the same rule: the $99 diagnostic is inside the number you approve, $99 is the whole bill if you decline, and all pricing comes after the diagnostic, in writing.

Range and oven repair in Meridian is priced after the diagnostic and put in writing. The $99 diagnostic is inside the number you approve; decline and $99 is the whole bill. Request service →

Asked in Meridian

Do you repair gas ranges in Meridian?

Yes. Much of Paramount, Lochsa Falls and the newer streets near Ten Mile Rd have gas service and gas ranges. The technician handles igniters, spark modules, safety valves and burner assemblies, and tests for leaks after any gas-side repair before leaving.

Why did my oven stop heating while the burners still work?

On a gas range they are separate systems. The cooktop burners use spark igniters; the oven uses a glow igniter that must draw enough current to open the gas safety valve. When that igniter weakens, the oven goes cold while the top still lights. It is the most common oven repair in Meridian.

Is a builder-grade glass-top worth repairing?

Usually. A radiant element or a limiter is a modest part and the rest of the range is fine. The technician gives you a written price and a plain opinion on the range’s condition. If the control board has failed on an older unit, that goes in writing too so you can decide.

How fast can you get to a range in Meridian?

Same week and often next day. Meridian is ten minutes down Ustick or Eagle Rd, so a range call in Paramount or Tuscany fits into most days. A burner stuck on high or a gas smell moves to the front of the schedule. Early and late windows exist for shift workers.

Can you do a rental range with the owner approving by text?

Yes. The tenant meets the technician, the diagnosis happens at the range, and the written price goes to the owner or property manager by text. On approval the repair proceeds, and the invoice and written warranty are emailed to the owner.
