Dryer repair in Eagle where the vent is half the job

In Eagle the dryer is often forty feet of duct away from the outside wall, and that distance explains more cold-air calls than any part does. Our technician comes up Eagle Rd with a meter, an airflow gauge and the elements, igniters and thermal fuses that fail most, tests the machine and the vent together, and writes one price before the repair.

Dryers in Eagle: big houses, long ducts, foothills dust

Sawtooth Appliance Service technician beside a front-load dryer in a Boise laundry room
Dryers · Eagle

Stand in a laundry room in Two Rivers or Legacy and try to guess where the dryer vent exits. It is usually not the wall behind the machine. In Eagle’s larger homes the duct runs through the floor joists, turns twice, climbs through an attic and terminates at a roof cap or a soffit thirty to fifty feet away. A run like that holds a pound of lint after two years, and the dryer’s thermal fuse opens to protect it. We carry the gauge to measure airflow at the machine and at the cap, because replacing the fuse without clearing the duct just sets the clock for the next failure.

The houses on the acreage lots toward the Eagle foothills and north of Beacon Light Rd add dust to the picture. Wind off the hills and the bare ground of new construction carries fine grit into the laundry room, and it packs the lint screen housing and the blower wheel faster than in a Boise subdivision. The machines are a cut above average here: Electrolux and LG pairs, Speed Queen on the acreage, Miele in the newer builds. The route from our shop is Eagle Rd north to SH-44, about twelve minutes, and an Eagle dryer is scheduled the same week, often next day.

Eagle dryer complaints and the part usually behind them

No heat, drum turns

Electric: the thermal fuse, the high-limit thermostat or the element, and the fuse almost always opened because the vent was blocked. Gas: the igniter, the flame sensor or the gas valve coils. We meter each in order, replace the failed part from the truck and measure the vent before we leave.

Dries, but takes forever

Airflow. A long Eagle duct with a lint load, a roof cap whose flapper is stuck, or a blower wheel packed with foothills dust. We measure the flow at the dryer and at the exit, clear what we can reach from the machine and tell you plainly if the duct itself needs a full cleaning.

Thermal fuse keeps failing

Someone has replaced the fuse twice and it keeps opening. That is a restricted vent or a failed cycling thermostat letting the dryer overheat. We stop replacing the symptom, measure temperature and airflow, and fix the cause so the third fuse is the last.

Squealing or thumping drum

Rollers, idler pulley, belt and the rear glide wear as a set. On a heavy-use Eagle household with a large-capacity machine they go sooner. We replace the whole kit in one visit rather than one piece at a time, and check the drum seals for grit while the cabinet is open.

Won’t start

A door switch, a start switch, a broken belt tripping the belt switch, or a thermal fuse on the motor circuit. On the newer Electrolux and LG machines a stored fault code shortens the search. We meter each and replace the failed one from truck stock.

Gas smell or a burner that lights and dies

The flame sensor is opening early or the gas valve coils are weakening with heat. A brief smell at ignition points to a slow igniter. A strong smell means shut it off and call the gas utility before us. We meter the coils and sensor and replace them as a pair when they test weak.

What happens on an Eagle dryer call

  • Heating circuit or burner metered through a full ignition sequence
  • Airflow measured at the machine and at the roof or wall cap
  • One written number, the $99 diagnostic already inside it
  • Elements, igniters, fuses, roller kits for common Eagle brands on the truck
  • Timed heat test on a wet load, then the written warranty

Dryer repair in Eagle, gas and electric, vent included

The technician opens the cabinet and meters the heating circuit first: element and both thermostats on an electric dryer, igniter current and coil resistance on a gas dryer while watching a full ignition. Then the airflow gauge goes on the exhaust with the duct connected, and if the reading is low, at the exit cap outside. That pair of numbers tells us whether the failed part died on its own or was killed by the vent. You hear the answer in plain words and get one written price for the whole job. Elements, fuses, igniters, coils and roller kits for Whirlpool, LG, Samsung, Electrolux, GE and Speed Queen are on the truck. Miele parts sometimes take a day, and the return visit has no second trip fee.

Eagle laundry rooms lean toward the upper brands: Electrolux and LG in Legacy and Eagle Island, Speed Queen on the acreage north of Floating Feather Rd, Miele in the foothills builds, Whirlpool and Maytag in the 1990s streets near Old State St and Eagle Rd. Many Eagle homeowners travel, and a house manager can provide access while the owner approves the single written price by text and receives the invoice and written warranty by email. Early and late windows are available for hospital and Micron shift schedules. On every Eagle dryer call the pricing is the same: the $99 diagnostic is inside the repair price you approve, $99 alone if you decline, everything else written down after the diagnosis.

Dryer repair in Eagle follows the same rule as everywhere we go: the $99 diagnostic is already inside the written price you approve. Decline and $99 is the whole bill. Approve and the repair, the vent measurement and the written warranty are all included. Request service →

Asked in Eagle

Do you clean the whole dryer vent in Eagle homes?

We measure airflow on every visit and clear the duct from the dryer to the first bend and the exit cap when that is the cause. A long Eagle run through an attic to a roof cap sometimes needs a full duct cleaning, and we tell you that plainly instead of selling a part that would fail again.

How far into Eagle do you go without a travel charge?

All of it. Eagle proper, Eagle Island, Two Rivers, Legacy, the foothills lots and the acreage north toward Beacon Light Rd are inside our thirty-minute circle from West Boise. There is no distance fee, and the $99 diagnostic is inside the repair price you approve.

My electric dryer in Eagle runs but the clothes are still damp and cool. Which part is that?

Most often the thermal fuse or the element, and the fuse usually opened because of restricted airflow in a long duct. We meter both, replace what failed, and measure the vent so the new part is not lost to the same blockage.

Can you repair a Speed Queen dryer?

Yes. Speed Queen dryers on Eagle’s acreage properties are built to be serviced, and belts, rollers, elements and igniters are all stocked. They tend to go many years between visits, and when they do fail the repair is almost always worth doing.

The dryer exhausts on the roof. Can you check that end?

Yes, weather and roof pitch permitting. A roof cap with a stuck flapper or a screen packed with lint is a common Eagle finding, and it can be the whole reason the dryer overheats. If the roof cannot be reached safely that day, we measure at the dryer and tell you what the numbers show.
